Re: Second rate of ATG

Hi there – actually your son’s response the first time was bang on cue. The ATG protocol states that it is UNUSUAL to see a response before 3 months post ATG, and it is advisable to wait up to 6 months post ATG before coming to a view as to whether the patient has responded or not.
I had two rounds of ATG – the second was 18 months ago. I have been independent of transfusions for nearly a year and lead a full and active life, even though my counts are not ‘normal’ yet.
Given that your son responded well the first time, I would say there is every hope that he will do so again.
I believe you are right to be cautious about the MUD BMT route, which I have come to view very much as a last resort.
Good luck to you.
I wish you the best of luck.
