Hi Sue,
I was diagnosed in 1998 and was unresponsive to the first round of ATG. I had a second round a year later and responded. I did a slow taper (6 months) to reduce the cyclo., when I got to the last 25mg once a day, my counts all dropped. Cyclo was started again immediately and my counts recovered and stabilized. I have now been on Cyclo. for almost 6 years, I am now on a low dosage (150 mg once a day), I am now tapering my dosage again, and we will see what happens. I have read that is not uncommon for AA patients to become dependant on a low dosage of Cyclo. I lead a very normal life, have no limits, and my counts are low normal. The only side effects I have are high blood pressure. I hope to continue the taper and one day be drug free, but for now I have regained my life/lifestyle and I extremely grateful to god and the drugs that put me here.
