Gregg,
Check out Mindy Pembers story as well as Dena Panayi. Both did Hi Cy but Dena did not go to Hopkins to have the treatment. My husband also had Hi Cy. He is on the verge of being transfusion free!. Your best bet is to set up a consult with Dr. Brodsky. He will give you the latest statistics of the study. If you go forward with Hi CY and don't go to Hopkins, you need to make sure you are in a top notch BMT hospital and that they are in contact with Dr. Brodsky. Most doctors are not familiar with this protocol and have different expectations and probably overreact to how slow your counts come up.
Average meantime for being transfusion free is 12-14 months, but may have changed. As with all of these protocols, some respond earlier and some respond later. I know you've recently did ATG so it's too early to tell if it worked, but I do understand you wanting to check into your options now. So I would really encourage you to contact Dr. Brodsky. We've only had good experiences with him—he's an excellent doctor.
Marlene
