My mother in law was diagnosed with SAA in July 2003, went for ATG-did not work. Has been having platlet transfusion 1 to 2x a week and red blood about every 9 days. Went for 2nd opinion to Johns Hopkins with Dr. Brodsky and had follow up appt today with local Hemo group that has been monitoring her locally. She will be going for another appt. to Haneman Hospital for another opinon on high dose cytoxan but was told today by local hemo group that they want to do another bone marrow biopsy to see if anything has progressed to MDS. Has anyone had this happen or have any more information on what the possibilites of this happening are? Any input would be helpful. They said if it has progressed then there is no point in doing another treatment for SAA. Look forward to any information anyone has. Thank you very much.
